There’s no way I have any insightful things to say beyond what has been expressed so far.
American Christians have been granted a mercy with the outcome of the election. Don’t get me wrong, I have my concerns for the character of those elected, but those elected were the only folks who were willing to permit me to live my life and faith peacefully. The other side wanted to shut me up and eventually put me into a camp because I dare embrace traditional marriage and values.
The hardest part is coming up.
We need to remember that we can’t genuinely change our country with laws; we can’t genuinely change this country without genuinely changing people. The only one who can genuinely change people is God.
The hard part will be living up to our mission: being so painfully and radically different from the world, so that they have no choice but to ask us about the hope we have.
This is a truth lost on Christians; especially in Western culture. We’ve tried so hard to fit in with our culture, and succeeded so well, that our witness is dulled and, quite possibly, false.
We watch the same video entertainment, play the same games, listen to the same music, speak the same, act the same: we are indistinguishable from those around us.
If we want to make the best use of these next four years, we will focus on drawing closer to our God and radiating his Son more and more.
